Application Available: June 18, 2024

NEH Deadline: September 18, 2024

The NEH Summer Stipends Program aims to stimulate new research in the humanities and its publication. Summer Stipends support continuous full-time work on a humanities project for a period of 2 consecutive months.  This year, the maximum award amount is being increased to $8,000. NEH funds may support recipients’ compensation, travel, and other costs related to the proposed research.

Guidance for the Nomination Process

SLU can nominate one tenured or tenure-track faculty for the Program. NTT, contingent, and adjunct faculty need no nomination and can apply directly to NEH. Tenured and tenure-track faculty seeking a SLU nomination must submit materials (project narrative, work plan, bibliography, CV) through SLU's OpenWater portal by May 24, 2024, here: https://slu.secure-platform.com/a/solicitations/170/home.

A SLU faculty selection committee will review and select the most suitable applicants and notify all applicants of the outcome by June 7, 2024, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

For more details on the Program, see: https://www.neh.gov/grants/research/summer-stipends

All SLU faculty who apply for NEH Summer Stipends should contact their GO Center pre-award specialist for assistance: https://www.slu.edu/research/faculty-resources/go-centers.php.
